This past Saturday, Hog Roast Newby Cross had the absolute pleasure of catering for a truly enchanting Christening celebration. Parents, Gemma and Cody, had pulled out all the stops for their daughter Poppy’s special day, turning a function suite in a local Carlisle hotel into a breathtaking woodland wonderland.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported into a magical setting with faux wisteria cascading from the ceiling, garlands draped over every surface, and stunning floral arrangements adorning each table.
Rustic wooden tables filled the space, complete with plush faux fur throws and twinkling lanterns that added a warm and whimsical glow to the festivities. The attention to detail was second to none! And, to top it off, the couple had arranged for a photo booth, a cocktail artist, and even a face-painting station where guests transformed into adorable woodland creatures. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and a true sense of celebration.
Amidst all this magic, Hog Roast Newby Cross had the privilege of serving up our Southern Slow Roast Menu, and let’s just say – it was a hit! This American-inspired feast was a perfect match for the event, and with 70 guests to feed, we made sure there was something for everyone to enjoy.
As soon as the buffet opened, the feast began! Plates were piled high with our Cajun-spiced whole roast chicken, which proved to be a crowd favourite, alongside the succulent BBQ pork butt and perfectly minted lamb. And let’s not forget about the vegetarians – we made sure they were well taken care of with our chargrilled veggie kebabs, featuring optional halloumi chunks, creamy tzatziki dip, and warm flatbreads.
But it wasn’t just the mains that had guests raving. The sides were just as irresistible! Our creamy, indulgent mac and cheese was devoured in record time, while the Memphis-style crunchy coleslaw and pickle-infused potato salad had everyone coming back for more. To tie it all together, we served each dish on rustic wooden bamboo plates with matching cutlery, seamlessly blending into the woodland aesthetic of the celebration.
By the end of the evening, Hog Roast Newby Cross was beaming with pride, knowing we had helped make Poppy’s Christening extra special. The guests were happy, the hosts were over the moon, and we even secured a promise from Gemma and Cody to call us for future celebrations. Now that’s what we call a successful event!
