Huge congratulations are in order for Mark and Marilyn, a lovely local couple who tied the knot earlier this month. Surrounded by friends and family at the historic Tithe Barn, a building dating back to 1480 and more recently transformed into a local events space by St Cuthbert’s Church, the pair had a genuinely magical ceremony, which was followed up with a Hog Roast Carlisle hog roast.
Our team was delighted when the pair first approached us and asked for our help catering their big day, and when the time came, Hog Roast Carlisle’s catering crew made sure to knock it out of the park. After hours of slow-cooking a full pig over a low flame, and preparing plenty of extras to ensure every plate shone, our team grabbed the carving knives and set to work.
Guests loved watching us peel that crispy crackling away from the tender meat beneath, and seeing it all glistening for the first time only made them more eager to grab a plate and dig in, so we didn’t keep them waiting. Before long, everyone had pulled pork, crackling, applesauce and sage and onion stuffing piled high on bamboo plates, alongside sides of tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw and a mix of sweet potato and classic fries, finished off with plenty of salt, vinegar and Sauce Shop sauces.
It’s always a joy watching people properly enjoy our namesake dish, and this crowd certainly weren’t shy about going back for seconds. As for those with different tastes, Hog Roast Carlisle made sure to rustle up plenty of grilled vegetable kebabs with tzatziki and a whole batch of juicy marinated chicken thighs, which kept everyone happy.
And if you’re someone who always saves room for dessert, this wedding would’ve been right up your street. After all that rich, savoury food, we brought out homemade cheesecake slices and individual lemon tarts, which turned out to be the perfect end to a perfect night.
