Earlier this summer, Hog Roast Irthington was contacted by Todd and Elaine to arrange catering for an upcoming family dinner. The pair are planning on hosting a meal at their home in Carlisle for their 4 children and 9 grandchildren, as a way to gather together before the end of summer. The meal will be a great way to have a final celebration before the children return to school and university and regular meet-ups will be much harder to schedule. For the menu, our catering manager John was hired to serve a classic hog roast at the event, followed by a big dessert course with plenty for the younger guests to enjoy.
On the day of the meal, the Hog Roast Irthington team arrived at the family home in the afternoon, giving us plenty of time to prepare the catering for the 6:00pm mealtime. For the main meal, we provided a delicious and succulent slow-roasted hog, which was accompanied by sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. For the side dishes, we served roasted baby potatoes and a selection of seasonal salad options. This created a hearty and filling main meal with plenty for seconds and pork rolls the next day!
To finish the menu, the guests enjoyed a luxurious dessert course, with several dishes to choose from. We provided sticky toffee pudding, profiteroles, and chocolate torte, alongside English cream and fresh berries. This course had something for everyone to enjoy and the grandchildren were delighted by all of the delicious treats.
