Having a baby has always been a reason to celebrate, but these days, the excitement of expanding your family comes with even more reasons to party! From the initial pregnancy announcement and baby showers to the big reveal of whether it’s a bouncing baby boy or girl, there’s no shortage of reasons to gather your loved ones and celebrate.
For Hog Roast Welton, being included in these events is a huge honour, so when we were asked to cater for Sarah and Jamie’s one-of-a-kind gender reveal party, we couldn’t say yes quick enough!
Reaching the 21-week mark is a milestone for any expectant couple, and Sarah and Jamie were positively buzzing to find out the gender of their little bundle of joy. To keep the suspense alive, they sealed the big reveal in an envelope and handed it off to Sarah’s super-creative mum, Janice, who took the reins to throw an unforgettable party. And with Halloween just around the corner, Janice embraced the spooky season with a fun and whimsical twist!
Guests arrived to find Janice’s home decorated in pastel pink, blue, and white. Pumpkins painted in soft pinks and blues dotted the property, and a balloon sign proudly read, “A Baby is Brewing.” The pièce de résistance was a beautifully crafted cake with the words “Boo-y or Ghoul?” – a playful nod to the occasion. Sarah and Jamie loved the atmosphere and couldn’t wait to find out if they were welcoming a little prince or princess.
But Janice’s surprises didn’t stop there. She also brought in Hog Roast Welton to cater the event, and we were thrilled to serve up our Southern Slow Roast Menu. Our catering manager, Jordan, had guests drooling over tender BBQ pork butt, 24-hour beef brisket, and Cajun-spiced roast chickens. We also offered BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls for the plant-based crowd, alongside mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, and buttery corn cobbettes.
As guests savoured every bite, the excitement in the air was palpable. Finally, it was time for the moment of truth! With hearts racing, Sarah and Jamie ignited a smoke bomb, and as vibrant pink smoke filled the air, the room erupted in cheers—IT’S A GIRL!
With the big news out, the party reached new heights. Laughter and joy filled the air as guests danced, celebrated, and devoured every delicious morsel Hog Roast Welton had to offer.
